A practical guide to rest and renewal

Sabbath is an intentional gift from God designed to bring life to your soul through scheduled rest and a deep encounter with Jesus.

We live in a culture that rewards the constant hustle. This pace often leads to exhaustion and feeling distant from the Lord.

So we tell ourselves that our work is too important to stop. And perhaps I am too.

Many Christians treat the Sabbath like a suggestion rather than a commandment. We find it easier to keep working than to face the quiet. Our families often receive the leftovers of our energy and attention.

Jesus understands our weaknesses and thus created a specific rhythm to enable us to reset our hearts, bodies, minds, and emotions. Rest is more than a simple lack of activity. It demands a deliberate choice to stop and receive.

"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy." (Exodus 20:8).

Video Summary:

  • Defining the holy day of rest

  • Communicate expectations with your family

  • Focus on activities that bring life

  • Setting the digital boundary that will change how you feel on your day off

  • Sabbath is an act of obedience, not a luxury

"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27).

Next Steps:

  1. Pick your Sabbath day for the coming week and put it on the calendar.

  2. Tell your spouse or a friend what you plan to do to rest.

  3. Turn off your work email notifications for those twenty-four hours.

"There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God, for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." (Hebrews 4:9:10).

With love,
