Meet Alex & Hannah

Pastors, speakers, and authors on a mission to equip you to lead others to live a naturally supernatural life!

Bio

Alex and Hannah Absalom show leaders and churches how to step boldly into naturally supernatural discipleship and mission.

Through Dandelion Resourcing they coach, teach, and encourage pastors and congregations who long for more of the Holy Spirit’s presence and power, so that the gifts of the Spirit are exercised with wisdom, joy, and persistent expectancy.

Originally from England, they’ve served in church leadership since 1994 in a variety of contexts, everything from plants to megachurches. In 2007 Jesus called them to leave England and be a family of missionaries to the United States - a wild adventure they’re still living today!

They live in Long Beach, CA, and are proud parents to three characterful grown sons, two civilizing daughters-in-law, and the first of hopefully many charming grandchildren!

Our Story

As young church planters in London, and later as pastors in the industrial English city of Sheffield, we learned significant lessons about how to go and make disciples in the power of the Spirit in a culture that was rapidly becoming post-Christian.

Called as a family of missionaries to the USA in 2007, we’ve served in churches in Oklahoma City, NE Ohio, and Long Beach CA. Our boys are now young men, each of them (and their wives) walk passionately with Jesus and are disciple-makers in their own right – for which we give so much amazed thanks to God!

At the heart of our calling from Jesus is the dream of seeing the church in the West become intentionally open to the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. While of course we recognize the epic scale of the task, we believe Jesus has asked us to play our little part in this great endeavor, and so that’s what we intend to give the rest of our lives to pursue.

Practically, we equip the wider church by serving churches, networks, denominations, and have spoken in person in 19 countries and over 25 US states. For eight years we have led Dandelion Resourcing full-time, partnering with a diverse range of leaders, churches, and denominations. We find our greatest impact comes from speaking at churches and conferences, coaching leaders, consulting with a limited number of churches and denominations, and writing and creating resources for the wider church, all while continuing to live on mission in the power of the Spirit in our personal lives. We believe it’s vital to have a continuous pipeline of fresh stories of success and failure!

We live in Long Beach, California (south Los Angeles), and serve locally as non-staff elders at Garden Church, our spiritual home. Hannah likes to play pickleball and Alex plays soccer (real football), and we have strong views on how to brew tea correctly!

What makes Alex & Hannah unique?

  • We’ve led in a wide range of local churches in two nations, and have spoken, coached, and consulted in countless churches in many contexts and countries. This has given us a rich base of understanding, experience, and insight that you can access and benefit from.

  • Our call from Jesus is to see the Western Church become intentionally open to the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. We of course realize that there is no way we - or any human - can do that! However, our little part in fulfilling that vision is to focus on equipping leaders and churches with tools, training, and tactics that consistently help frame your tangible next step.

  • These three words - biblical, practical, simple - are core cultural values for Dandelion, since we felt the Lord specifically direct us to operate by them. Thus everything we do at Dandelion must be deeply rooted in Scripture, answer the “yes but how?” question, and be clear enough that a 7 year old can try out the basic concepts.

  • Okay, no-one admits to being wacky! But we instinctively shy aware from that sort of style, especially when teaching and modeling naturally supernatural living. After all, the Holy Spirit is invited down, not hyped up! Our cultural background from England means that our natural mode is to be non-showy, informal, and drama-free.  ◡̈

  • Throughout our life as a couple and family, we have sought to be naturally supernatural. This means that we have lots of stories - of success and failure! By hearing some of these, you can be inspired to grow your own reservoir of testimonies of boldly relying on the Spirit’s empowering presence.

  • We are accountable and under godly oversight where we live. This comes in two specific ways. Firstly, we’ve been part of Garden Church (garden.church) in Huntington Beach since 2018, and serve on a number of teams there, including as non-staff elders. Secondly, our 501(c)(3) charity Dandelion Partners is overseen by a board, who bring godly counsel and advice, and of course financial and legal best practice oversight.

Why are we called ‘Dandelion’?

The Lord gave Hannah a vision of a dandelion seed head. The wind of the Spirit swept in and blew those seeds everywhere. As they scattered, they were able to land and put down a root, whether in a plowed field or a crack in concrete. They quickly grew a stalk, burst into flower, and produced fresh seed that the Spirit carried out again. This is how Spirit empowered discipleship and mission is meant to take place: lightweight, reproductive, and simple enough for anyone to do.

We show you how to connect together three elements which, when in synergy, help form a Kingdom culture.

  • 1. Naturally Supernatural

God wants us to deeply trust the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. You can build a culture of persistent expectancy - where we live with faith for the Spirit to do the miraculous through and among us, while also compassionately persevering with those who haven’t yet seen the breakthrough.

  • 2. Making Resilient Disciples

The heart of all disciple-making is hearing what Jesus is saying about a person or situation, and responding with prompt and faithful obedience. You can grow a church or ministry that focuses on obedience-based discipleship, forming disciples who make disciples who make disciples.

  • 3. Living With Impact on Mission

To reach the lost in a post-Christian world requires Christians to live out their faith wherever they live, work, study, and play. You can model and equip others for this lifestyle of go, so that mission is less event-based and more incarnated for the unique specifics of wherever your people are placed by Jesus.

  • “Alex and Hannah live an authentic life with God that overflows in a ministry of teaching, healing, and hearing from God so that others live a Spirit-filled life.”

Len Tang, Director, Fuller Church Planting Initiative

  • “What Alex and Hannah brought to our team didn’t stop in the room—it sparked a naturally supernatural culture in our church that’s now reaching many others.”

Christy Gibas, Lead Pastor, The Table Church, Pittsburgh PA

  • “The days of waiting for the lost to come to our churches are over. Alex and Hannah have equipped our pastors and churches to rediscover God’s call to be a sent people - to be missionaries in their neighborhoods and workplaces.”

Jeff Matas, Executive State Pastor, Indiana Ministries IN

  • “Our congregation yearns for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit, especially in raising up a new generation of prayer healing ministers. Alex and Hannah have been God-sent! Their teachings offer the most biblically faithful, spiritually insightful, and practically sensible resources we have engaged. They are great people too!”

Leigh Spruill, Rector, St John the Divine, Houston TX
