Resources Worth Investigating

Things that we’re finding interesting or useful - and you might too!

Welcome to our occasional series where we share resources that we’re finding useful. Some will have wide appeal, some will be more specialized, and some you’ll shake your head and smile at our strange interests!

Scripture

I’ve been spending some time in Mark 5 lately (specifically verses 21-43), sitting with the stories of Jairus’ daughter and the woman who reached out to touch Jesus’ robe. It’s a striking scene: a desperate, high-ranking father and a lonely, marginalized woman both seeking a miracle at the exact same time.

The way Jesus responds to each of them gives us a beautiful window into His heart. Even in the midst of urgency, He is never rushed. He is entirely present, compassionate, wise, and incredibly tender.

We often talk about healing, whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual. And I’m aware that in those moments we strive to care for the whole person. I love how Jesus models a holistic picture of healing in this text. He heals the woman physically, and then emotionally, and then relationally in the context of her community, where previously she had been shunned.

I encourage you to spend some time in this passage. Imagine yourself as the one coming to Jesus with your needs.

  • What is the look in His eyes as He turns toward you?

  • How does His "unrushed" presence bring peace to your urgency?

  • How does it feel to be totally seen, known, and understood by Him in this moment?

  • What is He saying as you grapple with this situation?

Website

A fairly long but interesting article about Billy Graham. It talks about his ministry before and after being filled with the Spirit. The second half of the article, when he arrives in Pontypridd, Wales, is of particular note.

Book

We have been consistently recommending Rob Reimer’s book Soul Care, and it's quickly becoming one of our most valued resources. This is a foundational guide for anyone, whether for their own journey or while ministering to others, who is serious about finding deep, lasting freedom.

Soul Care provides Biblical undergirding and practical steps for sorting through past baggage. It specifically addresses core areas that hinder spiritual health, including:

  • Unpacking difficult family history

  • Healing emotional wounds

  • Identifying and dismantling lies that have been believed

  • Establishing a genuine and practical walk of repentance

The book offers a Christ-centered pathway toward wholeness and freedom. We see it as a great precursor for those preparing for or engaging in deliverance ministry, as it lays the necessary groundwork for a healthy, transformed soul.

Song

For a while, I’ve been loving Lindy Cofer’s “Jesus the Healer.” It reminds us that this is who Jesus is, regardless of current circumstances. Powerful and proclamatory!
