When the enemy attacks, prayer is our weapon.
"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness."
— 1 Timothy 2:1–2
Lately, we have personally felt under spiritual attack and are deeply grateful for the people who have held us up in prayer—it makes all the difference! We’ve also watched friends in leadership become targets for the enemy without having the necessary prayer cover around them.
In this video, we discuss two primary aspects of prayer cover:
1. Requesting Prayer Cover as a Leader
If you are in leadership, the enemy will actively try to undermine what you are doing. Don't carry the weight alone—invite trusted people to support you in prayer.
Identify your prayer supporters: Look for close family and friends, those who champion what God is doing in your life, and dedicated prayer warriors who understand the spiritual weight of leadership.
Share specific needs: Provide a list of specific items you need prayer for, while also trusting the Lord to guide their intercession.
Establish a consistent routine: Set up a system or trigger so you remember to send updates—such as a monthly calendar reminder or a prompt whenever you begin preparing for an event.
2. Covering Other Leaders in Prayer
We shouldn't wait for leaders to ask. We need to proactively cover leaders in prayer, whether they explicitly request it or not.
What to Pray For:
Spiritual Life: Deep closeness with Jesus, a clear ability to hear His voice, and steady guidance in daily responsibilities.
Marriage & Family: Protection, peace, unity, and strength at home.
Wisdom & Discernment: Divine clarity, sound judgment, and wise advisers to assist in making just decisions.
Personal & Character Needs: Courage, integrity, peace, hope, and continuous encouragement.
Physical & Mental Renewal: Health, fresh energy, creativity, and the perseverance to keep serving faithfully.
Next Steps
If you are in leadership: Ask the Lord about your current prayer cover. Do you have enough support? Who can you ask to stand with you as a prayer warrior? Outline a plan to reach out to them this week.
For everyone: Ask the Lord which leaders He wants you to cover in prayer this season. Set an achievable goal—and put a reminder in your calendar or phone—to ensure you follow through.
