A guided Easter meditation from Psalm 22 on the cost of Jesus’ love

The week before Easter often carries a frantic energy. We move quickly from the palms of the Triumphal Entry and into the joy of the resurrection. We risk missing the weight of the middle.

I recorded this video to help us sit in the tension of the cross. It is a guided time to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus - in particular, the spiritual sacrifice - and listen for the voice of the Spirit.

Find a quiet corner where you can remain undisturbed. Open your Bible to Psalm 22 and keep a finger in Mark 15.

Bring a journal or a notebook with you. You will want to record what the Lord says to you as we walk through these passages.

Let the pace of this meditation reset your focus on the gravity of this week.

Next Steps

  1. Stay prayerful and watchful. Set a daily alarm for mid-afternoon this week. Use that minute to stop what you are doing and thank Jesus for his sacrifice.

  2. Share the story. Identify one person in your life who needs to hear about the hope of Jesus. Ask the Spirit for a natural opportunity to tell them the story of the cross this weekend. Seek to invite them to an Easter service.

  3. Reflect on the exchange. Read Mark 15 slowly before you go to sleep tonight. Picture the scene and acknowledge the power of the blood of Jesus shed in your place.

Easter is at the epicenter of our faith, and the transformative inbreaking of Jesus’ kingly rule. Let’s take this moment to engage more deeply with Him.

With love,
