Moving past cultural discouragement
The Big Idea
Intentionally observe and name the God-given virtues in others to represent the heart of the Father and build a bridge to the Gospel.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son" (John 3:16).
Most people around us are silently asking if they are worthy of love. Our culture is experts at judgment and discouragement. We often fall into the trap of looking for what is wrong instead of what the Father has placed within a person.
We do not need to be the traffic cop who only hands out tickets for violations. The Holy Spirit is the one who brings conviction of sin. Our job is to represent the beauty and bounty of Jesus by noticing the good raw material in our friends.
Calling out the gold is a profound kingdom act that breathes life into the weary. When we name a specific virtue like generosity or kindness, we are pointing to the thumbprint of God. This creates a positive vision for the redeemed person they are becoming.

Next Steps
Identify one person you see regularly and ask the Father what he loves about them.
Name a specific quality you admire in a neighbor and tell them it is a gift from God.
Stop looking for the flaws in a difficult relationship and search for the seam of gold instead.
May you see your neighbors with the eyes of the Father this week.
With love,
