Resources Worth Investigating

WELCOME to Issue #269 of The Seedhead from Alex and Hannah at Dandelion Resourcing
- a weekly confidence booster to help you step into naturally supernatural discipleship and mission!

Things that we’re finding interesting or useful - and you might too!

Welcome to our occasional series where we share resources that we’re finding useful. Some will have wide appeal, some will be more specialized, and some you’ll shake your head and smile at our strange interests!

Testimony

This is an Incredible testimony from a bishop serving believers in Muslim majority nations - whose own path led him from a Christian-persecuting, high status Muslim family in East Africa, to a deep faith in Jesus Christ. This came at great personal cost. Here is the link to that.

Book

Probably our favorite book to give away at the moment is Imagine the God of Heaven by John Burke. This is a collection of SO MANY stories of people who died (such as in surgery, or as a result of an accident) and had encounters with Jesus, before being sent back to earth to continue their journey here. Cumulatively these are such faith-building accounts We particularly enjoyed how many details in the stories tie into Scripture. The book does have a lot of editoralizing, and can get a bit preachy, but the accounts make it a more than worthwhile read, and something that you could also give to a spiritually interested yet lost friend

Podcast & YouTube

In the summer we spent a weekend with La Croix Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, which was such a great experience! They are now in a teaching series on the Supernatural. Our friend Ron Watts, the lead pastor at La Croix, preached “Do Miracles Happen Today?”, which is perhaps the best talk we’ve heard on the miraculous. It’s rooted in Scripture, includes inspiring testimonies, has thoughtful theology, and sets you up to live in the power of the Spirit!
Here is that YouTube video.

Song

My (Alex’s) latest ‘discovery’ is Allison Eide. She’s a young singer-songwriter, who writes fascinating (and witty!) lyrics that connect culture with Christ. In particular she says that her mission is to help bring freedom to those struggling with mental illness, especially teens and young adults. “I long for each of my listeners to feel seen and known, being pulled out of isolation and welcomed into belonging. It’s about time that people know they are not alone.”
Here is the link to the song on Spotify.

App

The Blue Letter Bible is one of our favorite study tools. You can look up any verse and then dig into the original language, accessing various tools to help pull out the meaning of any word or verse. Even if you have no prior experience in the original languages, the tools here will help you unearth the meaning of the actual words of Scripture.
