“In the documentary The Unseen Realm, a light is cast on the strange and enigmatic plane of the supernatural that lies within the pages of Scripture. And what we discover are two distinct worlds - with vastly different inhabitants - created and ruled by one loving triune God."
Michael Heiser’s book The Unseen Realm has continued to cause a huge impact in the Christian world for over a decade. Personally I found it fascinating and engaging, and agreed with much of the content.
A distinguished scholar, Heiser wrote in a way that drew in any thoughtful reader, while offering footnotes and insights to satisfy the more academically minded. However, if reading is not your thing, or you prefer a more accessible and quicker approach, this video documentary gives you the big ideas in the book in a more digestible way. Primarily presented by Heiser, it’s a great investment of your time (1hr 10min) and will develop you theologically!

Book
Tom and JoAnne Doyle’s Women Who Risk: Secret Agents for Jesus in the Muslim World is a faith stirring read! There are multiple stories of brave women of God who are leading the church in Muslim majority nations, often at great personal risk and cost. Most of the stories start with their own journeys to faith in Jesus, and then their deep conviction of their need to lead others to Him. There are challenging moments when reading of the persecution, rejection, violence, and even death that they face. As the book comments, “Even though the level of oppression that women face under Islam is unfathomable to many in non-Muslim nations, these brave women stop at nothing to share their faith.”

Song
I’m loving the music of Forrest Frank - a young Christian artist who is gaining a ton of listeners. This track is called Your Way’s Better, which is a great upbeat way to jump into work or exercise! https://open.spotify.com/track/7JDfWHxOFo63yQmVs5wSPM?si=f8dea3ed42d84774
App
In late 2007, shortly after we’d moved from the UK to live and work in Oklahoma City, I remember chatting with a techie guy at our church who’d just been hired by Life Church to help with a new online app for Bible reading. He was one of the very first hires for what became YouVersion’s Bible App. Last month the Bible App crossed 1 billion downloads globally, which is a wild journey! If it’s not on your phone, it should be!! https://www.bible.com/
