Healing the Sick: Managing Expectations

WELCOME to Issue #249 of The Seedhead from Alex and Hannah at Dandelion Resourcing - a weekly confidence booster to help you step into naturally supernatural discipleship and mission!

How to manage their expectations with both faith and wisdom

When you find yourself praying for the sick, often people can come with a lot of expectations. Some of those will be understandable, or an appropriate expression of faith, or demonstrating real spiritual maturity - but sometimes they will be less so.

In this video Alex discusses how to handle expectations around healing with both faith and wisdom.

Here’s the video:

Next Steps

  1. Do you always let the one receiving prayer set the (initial) agenda, or are you prone to making assumptions about what they need? How can you grow better at not controlling the interaction?

  2. Which one do you most need to grow in :acknowledging someone’s disappointment (with God/ their situation), or building up and strengthening faith in them? What could be a new practice for you?

We always feel so honored to be able to pray with someone who is battling illness. Yet we also know that it’s important not to grow complacent or stuck in a rut in how we minister in those situations. Let’s be sure to keep being attentive to the Holy Spirit as He seeks to keep us dependent upon His leading (rather than our experiences)!

With love,

Alex + Hannah
